Alternatively you can view the videos one at the time like on the Arlo app and it works! However unlike Arlo it does not have thumbnails for these videos so this is kind of useless. If you scroll back a few videos it simply stops playing them after a while until you exit the view and returns. On the Android app the new time line function in Ring is terrible. Outside the US the "assisted monitoring" is just an automated call that somebody is breaking into your house. Watch any review of the Ring alarm system and you will believe that this an alternative to real monitored system but then you will see the fine print. And the also cheat Europe with "assisted monitoring" instead of normal monitoring the US gets. Also in Europe we only get 30 days of video storage on Ring vs 60 days in the US. and you can't expect everyone to understand this. Normally not a problem but it includes replies on the doorbell, alarm prompts etc. The Ring app and language is in English only for most countries. Ring does not seem to care about Europe unlike Arlo. It is quite a stupid limitation IMO but at least all notifications can be snoozed on Ring up til 4 hours. Here the modes can only control that the camera records or not and it is the individual device setting the controls the notifications. On Arlo you can have different modes that may disable notifications but keep recording. Ring: The notifications rules need to be set on the camera for each device on ring. However it cannot be answered or even dismissed on the watch. This is due to Arlo simulating a doorbell press as an incoming call. When using an Arlo doorbell and somebody rings it the Galaxy Watch 4 also believes that there is an incoming call. This makes the audio/microphone keep cutting out. When accessing Live view on the phone app it keeps transferring it as a call to the watch and then back again. The Ring app does simply not work on the phone when a Galaxy Watch 4 is connected. On Ring it can only show one camera at the time. On Arlo you can show live view from multiple cameras at once in the Android app. Arlo is slower, less stable but superior in functionality. Usually Ring within 3 seconds and Arlo within 6 seconds. But they are quite good and precise when they show. It can also make errors and sending wrong notifications from different cameras and messing up the settings. Again it can take quite a while sometimes for the notifications on Arlo to show and it may even not show on occasions. They support many more detection types (animals, cars etc.) and also highlight the person in a thumbnail. Ring is also faster to show a notification but the Arlo smart notifications are superior. Ring is close to instant with around 1 second delay and multiple seconds (5+) with Arlo. This makes any conversation very difficult. Arlo is laggy to say the least when viewing real time/live. I wish somebody had done this properly - it seems such a low hanging fruit but nobody really seems capable of it. There are MAJOR differences and I will go through some of the. There are so many comparisons that simply does not give ANY idea on how the system works besides simply comparing some video quality. I decided to test the Ring cameras vs the Arlo.
